About the Course

This program is Your first step in becoming a fashion designer who has his/her own clothing line or a lead designer for a top global brand in the future.

This program is a practical qualification suitable for all learners with an interest in fashion and textiles that guides students to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding.

Student will engage is discussions and activities that involve ideas generation in fashion and textiles, design and innovation, fashion and textiles realisations, personal and professional development in the apparel industry and fashion and textile techniques and processes.

Program is designed to produce a professional in fashion design who has the required knowledge and most importantly the practical skills essential to become successful in the industry. You will be groomed to become a real designer who is confident in their creativity.

In the latter part of the program, you will work with your supervisors on a project where you will be mentored to plan and execute a fashion design project. Experience you gather by engaging in a real life project will support you gain independence and confidence you need to become a future star in fashion industry.

Upon completion of this program you are eligible to enter next level academic or professional qualifications awarded by universities and professional bodies.

The aims of the course are to enable learners to develop:

  • Textile construction techniques

  • The ability to make basic fashion/textile items

  • Knowledge of textile properties and characteristics

  • Knowledge of a range of factors that influence fashion/textile choice

  • Knowledge of fashion/textile trends

  • The ability to select and use relevant tools and equipment

Entry Criteria

Standard Entry : Completed G.C.E Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination or an equal standing in secondary school education.

If you are not eligible under the standard entry, you may be eligible under the work related entry

Work related Entry : Individuals currently working in fashion design or related industry may enter the programs if they meet any of the following criteria

Possess a Qualification in a relevant field

One Year Experience in work experience in a related position

Language Proficiency : Students should possess a high level of proficiency in Reading, Writing and Speaking English to make use of the programs.

All students must face an interview after registration before paying the course fee. Registration fee of the rejected applicants will be refunded

Academic Progression in Sri Lanka

Upon successful completion of this , students are eligible to apply for Higher Diploma / Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree programs in Fashion design delivered in Sri Lankan or International Universities using this qualification as an entry qualification.

International Credit Transfer

Upon successful completion of this Foundation Diploma, students are eligible to apply for exemptions for the similar modules in related programs through credit transferring.

We could recommend you the universities that we already have a partnership with or if you have a preferred country and/or a University we could support you to transfer the credits by working with the university.
