Diploma in Sports Psychology is a program designed to provide individuals with core knowledge and skills required to better understand behaviors and thinking patterns related to performance in sports in order to support sportsmen and women in various aspects and in different contexts.

During the program students will be first introduced to biological, cognitive and social determinants of human behaviors and attitudes and then will specifically look in to the sports related behaviors and attitudes. Program will also discuss the psychological condition that affect achievement motivation, confidence, endurance, competition, self-esteem, concentration, life style modification and adherence to training schedules.

As opposed to traditional child psychology programs this will approach the concepts from an applied aspect and discuss issues during teenage that are often overlooked.

Upon successful completion students are expected to :

• Understand the normal cognitive, social and biological determinants of human behavior

• Demonstrate core knowledge in psychological processes responsible for sports related behaviors and attitudes

• Apply psychological theories in improve the performance and effectiveness in training, coaching , managing & motivating sportsmen & women

• Identify Psychological conditions that negatively affects performance and how to support sportsmen and women in these conditions

Entry Criteria

Standard Entry : Two (02) A/L Passes or O/L + Foundation / Diploma Level Qualification

If you are not eligible under the standard entry, you may be eligible under the work related entry

Work related Entry : Individuals currently engaged in Sports, Coaching and training may enter the programs if they meet any of the following criteria

Possess a Qualification in sports science or Experience in playing a sports at national level

Or One Year Experience as a Coach, Trainer or a Sports Teacher

Language Proficiency : Students should possess a high level of proficiency in Reading, Writing and Speaking English to make use of the programs.

All students must face an interview after registration before paying the course fee. Registration fee of the rejected applicants will be refunded,

Upon successful completion of the Diploma of Sports Psychology, students are eligible to apply for exemptions for the similar modules in related programs through credit transferring.
